Michael Meyer & His Mother
Michael Meyer & His Mother Laurie Meyer Cox was a constant presence during her son's recovery. "The care Michael received at the University of Iowa was phenomenal," she says. "Even during the dark days and hard times, everyone was calm, everyone was professional. I would say repeatedly every day, 'It’s another great day in Iowa.'" Photo by Lisa Lewis, Envisage Studios.
A Critical Collaboration
A Critical Collaboration Military personnel carefully transport U.S. Marine Cpl. Michael Meyer. Severe respiratory failure nearly took Meyer's life; the Marine was transported from Japan to Hawaii to the University of Iowa. The university's extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) program is one of the few centers that specialize in adult patients. Photo by Capt.
